Up for a Challenge?
Up for a Challenge? is a study on U.S. restaurant food challenges where bigger always means better. A food challenge is a meal in which the participant receives a prize for the completion of a specific dish while following the rules set by the restaurant. The popularity of challenges continues to grow throughout the country and is creating a spectacle of consuming obscene proportions.
The final piece is an infographic composed of 100+ facts detailing information on the challenges, prizes, geographic locations, genres, and participants of America's restaurant challenges. The result exposes the magnitude of these challenges, and informs while entertaining its audience.

I began my process by collecting and organizing 150-200 facts regarding
U.S. restaurant challenges. I iterated different layouts and strategies to consider as my direction, and was inspired after sketching a towering food pile. Going forward, I used the illustration style, color selections, and vertical grids to set the mood of the work. Later rounds of design fine tuned typography, grouping, and breathing room throughout the infographic.
