Sealegs
Sealegs is a motion sickness gummy medication that arose out of a symbol set of creatures. The symbol set's theme is sea creatures that share names with land creatures (seahorse, tiger shark, rooster fish, etc.). Just as these land creatures have found their place at sea, you too can adapt to water life with the help of Sealegs. My goal was to create a welcoming aesthetic instead of the typical bleak, mundane offerings in alternative medications.

iconographic system

After researching and selecting nine sea creatures, I explored countless iconographic iterations differing in line weight, negative space, foreground and background, minimalism, closure, geometry, and stylization. With each step the most successful iterations were narrowed down until I settled on a system of solid forms all constrained within a circle.
process

For the application process, I assigned a different medicinal trait to seven of the icons so they have utility throughout the Sealegs products. The icons can exist alone in each type of medication, or they can combine with others for a combination (eg. night time for kids). Because of the circular nature of the icons, I created a repetition of circles throughout the visual identity of the brand. The final product applications include bottles, an in-store display, and gummies taking the form of the creatures.
